On Tuesday of last week, I informed my Math class that they had to do an in-class project on fractions. I gave them a menu of projects to choose from. One of the projects was to create a Fractions Scrapbook. About half of my class chose to do this project. To make it more engaging, I had them create it on the iPod Touch. I have a visually impaired student who was able to create hers on my iPad.
They started by using the Creative Book Builder (CBB) app. They walked around taking pictures of things and people. Then they added a blurb relating the picture to fractions. The nice thing about CBB is that you can take the picture in the app and it puts it in for you. You can also add audio and video if you like.
When they finished, they generated their book and emailed it to me. It could now be opened in iBooks or Evernote. I then saved it to my public dropbox file, copied the public link to the file, and pasted it into a QR code generator. Here are a couple finished products. If you have a QR code scanner, give it a try!
